The project, awarded by competition and built, give significance back to one Cernusco sul Naviglio’s topical site, the town hall square. The chosen sinergy is between the new values of public space’s material culture - with a big flexible multipurpose open space, typical of traditional italian square, for exhibitions, celebrations, markets, urban relations – and new contemporary town symbolic culture values, underlining the relation between the neoclassical Villa Greppi, today town hall, the town and the naviglio.
A urban relation site that, thanks also to the functions surrounding the square, generate an actual urban space recalling the open landscape, a place for silence and contemplation in Cernusco’s old town. The project was selected for the European prize of Espacio Público Urbano de Barcelona, Spain.
