The competition wants to refurbish the old cross-vaulted San Luca, very complex building included in a Brescia’s old town block, hospital as a contemporary culture centre. The project, winner of the second prize in a three phases international competition, create an exhibition path, starting from the city and passing through the hystorical building in order to generate the complexity and flexibility needed for the exhibition spaces in a contemporary cultural centre. The second fundamental element is to build a metal covering that recalls the original volume of the building – partially teared down by a fire – and, through an actual material, relates to the other metal-covered Brescia’s building, a landmark for the city.
